“Loved it”

September 2nd, 2011

Here’s what a guest from Ohio had to say about The Seralago Hotel & Suites on TripAdvisor.

We stayed at the Seralago Aug 8th-13th room 704 and was very pleased with the hotel. Check in was quick and the clerk was so friendly. There were 4 adults and 2 children so we got a suite. It was very nice and roomy. very clean and the beds were not too bad. We ate at the breakfast bar and thought it was very good, good variety and things that kids like. The servers were so nice, they took time with the kids and were patient with them. We had left to go to Disney and came back tired that night but we had a nice surprise, for the housekeeper (Ana Patricia} had cleaned and straightened our room, putting our groceries and kitchen items away neatly on the shelves. The kids stuffed animals were arranged in an order as if they were greeting us when we came in. I could not really find anything that was wrong with the room,it was so clean. Everyone that we met that worked there were super nice. They have a nice shuttle bus to transport guests to Disney and other places. Even the bus driver was so nice and joked around with us. We didn’t have time to take advantage of the pool but it did look really nice and clean The game room was nice for the kids and the general store had reasonable prices. Our stay there was very enjoyable and I will recomend this to my framily and friends. Thanks Seralago for giving us a pleasurable vacation.

“Excellent Location with bonus of free local car show. We’d go back.”

    August 30th, 2011
Here is what Pamela from London, UK had to say about The Seralago Hotel & Suites on TripAdvisor.
    4 of 5 starsReviewed August 25, 2011 NEW

Although we hadn’t originally booked this hotel, on arrival we found our booking had been moved to Seralago. We found the hotel staff extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was on the ground floor, spacious enough for the 4 of us. We didn’t use the microwave, but the fridge was clean and we used that daily. The room did smell a little damp, but I put that down to the sheer humidity in Orlando? We had clean towels every day. Bedding could have been better, (some cigarette burns on top blankets) but was sheets were clean. Buffet Breakfast was excellent, filling and just too much by the end of our 2 week stay! The restaurant staff were so friendly they seemed like actors, but since they managed to keep it up every day for 14 days, we know they’re genuinely “nice people” so we were happy to tip them. If we didn’t have change - we didn’t notice any drop off in their attitudes. We ate lunch in the restaurant on one of our rest days and it was pretty pricey (as you’d expect from any hotel really), but portions were true American size and the food tasted good. It was a burger/microwave heat up type of restaurant which was ok for lunch. The only piece of advice I’d give the management is - get rid of those disgusting sofas in the reception!!! [Management note: We're glad to say that 2 of the sofas have been replaced and we are working to have them totally replaced soon.] They were once lime green leather suites, but now are simply blackened, cracked leather and are so unappealing. I didn’t notice them when we arrived - I was too anxious to know our booking transfer had gone smoothly (and it had). But my husband noticed them straight away and didn’t really want to stay there if they proved to be a reflection of the general cleanliness. Thankfully, they didn’t. But really - bin them. They’re not adding to the decor and their right in the reception area! They need to go!! No chairs would be better than those. Pools seemed very popular with guests -from first thing at breakfast time until quite late at night - we were just too dead tired after Disney/Universal etc so didn’t actually use them at all. Rooms are air conditioned and the unit we had worked excellently. Room service staff were honest and friendly, if not great with English language, since most of them spoke Spanish, but this didn’t matter at all - honesty is the priority when you’re leaving your things in their care while you’re gone. The gym is really just a tiny room with 4 pieces of equipment, so my husband gave that a miss - although given how tired we were (this was our first trip to Orlando) I don’t really think he would have had any energy left to use it anyway no matter how big it was. The real bonus of staying at Seralargo was being right next to “Old Town”. The hotel’s in a fantastic part of Orlando where every Saturday night car enthusiasts bring out their beautifully and lovingly restored cars dating back from 1920s and 30s, ‘57 chevvies, cadillacs, dodges, right up to VW beetles and campervans. It’s incredible and you get to see a real piece of the US. Locals come out, music is played everywhere and there’s lots of great fun fair rides for everyone (if you haven’t had enough of rides already!) There’s some absolutely death defying bungee rides if you’re really daring or downright suicidal! And a fantastic atmosphere, and not one piece of rubbish on the floor in the whole area, despite the fact that there are literally hundreds of people walking about and lots of food, drinks, sweets etc on sale! It couldn’t happen in England. And best of all there’s a parade of the cars just before they leave so you can hear the roar of their engines. I loved it and I’m no car enthusiast! We’d have missed all this if we’d stayed on Disney! Seralargo gets my vote and it’s only 1.3 km from Disney I think. We’d definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again. There’s a cinema room where kids can select whatever film they like. Ours never used it since they were always too tired and we had a TV in our room anyway with a million channels. There’s a games room in the reception area - our 2 kids loved that - there’s an ice hockey table, simulator games etc. They spent a few hours having fun in there. Great hotel all in all. We’ve already recommended it to our friends who are going to Orlando next year.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room - then you can park your car right outside your door.

Poppies to honor those who gave their all

    May 27th, 2011

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation’s service. It is celebrated on the last Monday in May.

In 1915, inspired by the poem “In Flanders Fields,” Moina Michael replied with her own poem:

We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies.

She then came up with the idea to wear red poppies on Memorial Day in honor of those who died serving the nation during war. Shortly before Memorial Day in 1922, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) became the first veterans’ organization to nationally sell poppies. Two years later their “Buddy” Poppy program was selling artificial poppies made by disabled veterans. Donations received from the distribution of the Poppies are used to benefit disabled and needy veterans, and the surviving spouses and children of those who gave their lives for our country.

If you are staying with us at the Seralago Hotel & Suites this holiday weekend, you will notice all our employees wearing these Poppies in honor of those heroes who have given their all in service to their country. The National Moment of Remembrance Resolution, passed on December 2000, asks all Americans, on Memorial Day at 3:00pm, “to voluntarily and informally observe in their own way a moment of remembrance and respect, pausing from whatever they are doing for a moment of silence or listening to Taps.” We hope that on Memorial Day, at 3:00pm local time, you will join us in a “National Moment of Remembrance”.

    Recent Expedia Guest Review

    April 4th, 2011

    “More than it looks”

We were a little leery of the “motel-like” appearance but were pleasantly surprised! The Kid Suites were PERFECT for the kids. It created a total separate area in the room for the kids with their own TV and 3 beds (Bunk beds and a twin). The kids loved it and so did we! The pool was heated which was a plus in March. Will definitely stay here again if we’re in the area!

    Area recommendations
You must go to Fun Spot. It very close to the hotel and worth the money!

Where will you spend Easter break?

    March 23rd, 2011

We’ve been hard at work planning our Easter Fun.  Here at the Seralago Hotel & Suites, we are known for our family friendly activities. You know you can always count on plenty of fun for the whole family.  This year, the Easter fun begins on April 18th, with fun and games in our hotel lobby.  And of course there will be plenty of prizes!

Easter Fun in the Lobby of the Seralago Hotel & Suites

    Decorating Eggs

Be sure to stop by our lobby each morning from April 18th through April 22nd for Easter fun and games.  Returning again this year, is our annual egg decorating.  We’ll be in the lobby on Friday, April 22nd, looking for some artistic guests (both young and old) who are not afraid to get their hands dirty.  Last year, our Food and Beverage Director, cooked approximately 8 dozen eggs for us!  Do you like your eggs decorated using just one color or a mix of different colors?

In 2010, we started something new, an Easter Scavenger Hunt.  Our younger guests had so much fun with it, that we decided to bring it back again this year!   Starting on Wednesday, April 20th you will see our younger guests traveling around the hotel looking for clues.  The Scavenger Hunt ends on Friday with the winner announced at the Seralago Easter Egg Hunt Eggs-Travaganza on Saturday morning.

Speaking of the Seralago Easter Egg Hunt Eggs-Travaganza - have you been?  Our guests have a great time!

    Ready, Set, Go...

    Ready, Set, Go...

This year the staff will be out early in the morning on Saturday,  April 23rd, hiding approximately 700 plastic eggs filled with candy and special prizes.  Coffee, juice, doughnuts and danish will be served at the pool bar for our guests as they wait for the festivities to begin.  We have lots of goodies waiting to be claimed by those lucky enough to uncover the eggs with special messages inside.

Whether you are guessing the number of jellybeans in the jar, decorating eggs, traveling the hotel on a scavenger hunt or searching for hidden eggs; It’s always a fun time at the Seralago Hotel & Suites.  We hope you can join us for some Easter Fun!

    Dear Santa

    Dear Santa

I would like to thank you for a wonderful weekend at your hotel.  This stay was one of your most fun filled weekend we have had it a long time.  The room was perfect, staff was excellent and my boys loved, loved the Christmas decor.  Santa sleeping 3 doors down was so exciting to my 4yr old.  I have never seen that and thought it was brilliant!! The tree contest in the lobby was fun to see the different tress.  My one son asked it Santa left those gifts up your big center tree  LOL.   It was just an all around nice trip.  We ordered pizza & fries Saturday night from the food court.  GREAT!!  We had a great chat with the lady at the cash register while we waiting.  She was so nice and my oldest son enjoyed talking with her.

Again, you made the stay wonderful and we most definitely will return.  Thank you for your time and concern.

                             Sincerely,
                            Carrie & Frank
