This summer is going to be magical! Do you know one reason why?!

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

This summer is shaping up to be a very magical time. If you don’t know, Universal Studios is set to open its Harry Potter attraction on June 18th. For the first time, guests can visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ and stroll the streets of Hogsmead™, exploring the sights, sounds and magical wonders therein; and experience thrilling rides and attractions that bring the adventures of Harry Potter™ and his friends to life.

Guests will also be given a chance to tour Hogwarts™ castle to see firsthand some of their favorite locations including Professor Dumbledore’s office, the Gryffindo™ common room, the Defence Against the Dark Arts Classroom and more.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will enable visitors to take flight on a variety of rides and attractions that will provide experiences never before imagined. As visitors venture through the classrooms and corridors of Hogwarts™ they’ll come upon the signature ride, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™. For the first time ever visitors will be able to soar above the castle grounds, joining Harry Potter™ and his friends on a thrilling adventure. Riders will come face-to-face with creatures from memorable moments in the films such as the Hungarian Hormtail, a giant Acromantula, Demetors™, and the gigantic Whomping Willow™ as they speed and swerve through iconic locations from Harry Potter’s world. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey uses groundbreaking, state-of-the-art technology to create a truly unique ride experience. The nearby Dragon Challenge™ offers a totally different kind of ride experience. Guests will pass the Goblet of Fire and Triwizard Cup on their way to choose their dragon. Once aboard riders will fly through an intense aerial chase as the dragons twist, loop and nearly collide with each other. Dragon Challenge features two high-speed roller coasters – each offering guests a completely different ride.

For all family members young and old the Wizarding World of Harry Potter offers the Flight of the Hippogriff™. Visitors will follow a path past Hagrid’s hut and will be instructed in the proper way to approach a Hippogriff. Once on board, guests will then have a chance to bow to Buckbeak before the family-friendly coaster spirals and dives around the pumpkin patch, swooping past Hagrid’s hut.

A variety of new and intriguing experiences are in store for first-time visitors to Hogsmeade. Those with a sweet tooth will find a dazzling array of sweets awaiting them in Honeydukes™, including Bertie Bott’s Every-Flavour Beans™, Cauldron Cakes, treacle fudge, Chocolate Frogs™, and other snacks. Zonko’s™ Joke Shop offers novelty items, magic tricks, jokes and toys including Sneakoscopes, Extendable Ears, Fanged Flyers and more. At Zonko’s guests can try such ‘magical’ sweets as Fainting Fancies, Fever Fudge, and Nosebleed Nougat. Dervish and Banges™ offers items such as The Monster Book of Monsters, Hogwarts apparel and a wide range of Quidditch™ gear. In the Owl Post not only can you purchase stationery, but also post a letter with a Hogsmeade postmark. Those who wish to purchase a wand should pay a visit to Ollivanders™, Markers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C. Here “the wand chooses the wizard” and in a unique interactive experience, a Wandkeeper can help the wand choose you. The Three Broomsticks™ offers hearty fare as well as Butterbeer™, pumpkin juice and other favorites of the wizarding world. Next door the Hog’s Head pub offers a variety of beers and spirits as well as non-alcoholic drinks.

While we can’t do exactly that, we came up with something that just might hit the spot… a special rate for our coffee lovers. When you book this special rate, at check-in you’ll get an Exclusive Coffee Lovers Card. Present this card in our People’s Choice Food Court or Vineyard Café and you will not be charged for your coffee – the entire length of your stay!

TripAdvisor Review dated April 14, 2010

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

I just got back from a 3 nite 4 day trip to Disney with my 7 yr old and 9 yr old. After reading some of the reviews on here I was a little concerned but that all went away when we got the room. Staff is very friendly. The store wasn’t to bad. They have an excellent philly steak sandwich. My children are very hard to please and they loved the room and the pool!!! We stayed in the kids suite and it was the best!!! My daughters loved it!!! Had their own tv, x box, desk, and 3 beds to choose from. It also looked like a castle. It was really cute!!! The pool and hot tub were great. The breakfast buffet was great. Kids eat free which is a plus. My bed was very comfortable and relaxing!!! Nice little tiki bar for those of you who like great mixed drinks!! Bartender not to bad looking for the single moms out there lol We had a great time and when we go back to Florida we WILL be staying there again. If traveling with children get the kids suite you will not regret it!!!!

Did you know about this…?

Friday, April 9th, 2010

I read something that made me remember something that I did with my family several years ago.  It was a lot of fun and had a minimal cost - which nowadays we’re all looking for!  I checked and it’s still going on, so I thought I would share this with you.

A friend had told us that they went over to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground and had a great time for free?!!  So, looking for something different to do - we packed the kids and my visiting  in-laws into the car and headed over.  And what a great time we had!  There were campfires set up for everyone to enjoy.  We bought a couple of s’mores kits and roasted marshmallows over the campfire.  We all enjoyed the yummy treats and just had a nice time.

I called Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground  and was told it is still going on.  It’s called the Campfire Singalong and it takes place every night.  It’s open to anyone who would like to go and you don’t need to call ahead and make a reservation.  They have a singalong that starts between 7pm and 8pm.  Seating is on bleachers and benches or you can bring your own folding chairs or blankets.  Chip and Dale join the fun and lead the kids in dances like the Chicken Dance and the Hokey Pokey.  They pose for photos and sign autograph books too.  And as if all this fun was not enough - a classic Disney movie is shown.  And it’s all at no cost!!

So if you are looking for something different to do during your visit, no need to make a reservation, just head over to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campgrounds at the designated time.  It takes place near the Meadows Trading Post.  To get to the campground itself, you can either drive or take a boat over from the Magic Kingdom, Wilderness Lodge, Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian Resorts.  For more information call Disney at 407-824-2788.

Close to Disney but yet far enough to not be in the heavy traffic.

Even though we were not able to spend any time in the pools I was impressed that there were two heated pools. The room had a microwave and a mini fridge so we were able to buy some food and cook when we wanted and save some money. The hotel is close enough to Disney that you can go back and take a break if needed (or change clothes if you get too wet on the water rides). The hotel offers a shuttle to Disney which is an absolute plus. Rooms were comfortable and clean.

A Great Stay!… Review from TripAdvisor

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

First, I will tell you what we did not find at this hotel:
1. We did not find any rude staff.
2. We did not find any bugs of any kind.
3. We did not find any unsafe situations.
4. We did not find any trouble connecting to the wireless internet.
5. We did not find anything to complain about.

What we found was just a really nice place to stay while we were there to go to the parks with our children. We booked a 2 room suite, poolside, for 5 nights and our entire stay was under $400.00. Our room was spacious, very spacious. Our room very, very clean!
Everyday when we came back it was fresh, nice smelling, and clean! I think the housekeeping staff does a wonderful job!

The pool area was wonderful. Even though we were there on a cool week, the pool was so warm my kids jumped right in. The entire pool area is gated so small children can not get in unless their parents let them in.

The front desk employees were professional, friendly and quick!
All the other employess we met (maintenance, housekeeping and security) were constantly present, and very friendly. I certainly did not feel unsafe at any time, as everytime I left my room I seemed to run right into a security person….early in the morning, and late at night.

The atmosphere at the hotel was very fun. We met families from all over the United States and several from abroad. Everyone was on vacation, relaxed, and friendly.

From the hotel to the parks is a quick and very easy drive. We did not use the shuttle service because we didn’t want to be on a timetable. But the times were printed and given to you upon arrival if you wanted to use the shuttles.

Overall, I thought it was a great place, an excellent value, a fun atmosphere …and very clean!

We’re planning lots of Easter Fun this year!

Friday, March 5th, 2010

Can you believe that Easter is just around the corner?!  Last year was fun - but Easter 2010 promises to be the best ever at the Seralago Hotel & Suites.  Here’s a sneak-peak of what we have planned for our guests!

Of course we’ll have our live Bunnies!  Join us in the lobby each morning the last week in March to pet our little guests.  We would like your help in naming them, so be sure to enter our “Name The Bunnies” contest to win a great prize!

We’ll have daily fun games in the lobby as well - from guessing the number of jellybeans in the jar to coloring Easter Eggs!  That’s always a hit!  Do you know how many eggs we colored that morning last year?!  We colored 6 dozen eggs in 2 hours! That’s a lot of eggs!

Our Annual Easter Egg Hunt Eggs-Travaganza will take place on Saturday morning, April 3rd.  Join us at the Pool Bar for some coffee, juice, doughnuts and danish.   Our very own Seralago Easter Bunny will be hosting the event, posing for photos and giving away great prizes!!

New this year will be an Easter Scavenger Hunt!  We’re very excited about this.  It will start on Wednesday, March 31st and end on Friday, April 2nd.  Two clues will be posted each day in our lobby.  Have fun searching the hotel for the answers.  Once you have all the answers, turn in your paper on Saturday morning and get a special prize for playing.  There will be One Grand Prize Winner.

We’ll have more details coming soon.

2010 Silver Spurs Rodeo

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Most people who visit Kissimmee are more than a bit surprised to find that cattle ranches, rodeos and cowboys have played such a big part in the area’s culture.  But it’s true!  All of these were around long before Mr. Walt Disney came to town and changed Central Florida forever.

Friday, February 19th – Sunday, February 21st is the 124th Silver Spurs Rodeo.  Located just 10 miles/20 minutes from the Seralago Hotel & Suites, the Silver Spurs Rodeo is an Osceola County tradition since 1944.  Founded by the Silver Spurs Riding Club to promote good horsemanship and good fellowship in Osceola County.  It has grown to one of the most successful rodeos in the country, the largest rodeo east of the Mississippi and is ranked annually among the top 50 events sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.

Held at the state-of-the-art, indoor Silver Spurs Arena, the rodeo features a variety of exciting events.  Dust off your Stetson and watch such events as Bareback Bronc Riding, Barrel Racing, Bull Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Tie-Down Roping and even Mutton Bustin’ for the kids.

Admission is just $15, kids 10 & under are free.

Best Family Hotel I Have Seen…
This is a wonderful hotel we have been coming to fl. 3/5 times a year. Only place we will stay at. It’s a family place my kids love it i will tell you a little story . 10 years ago we decided not to go to the hotel but to rent a house the kids were against it because they love the hotel so much anyway we got to the house at approximately 7:00 PM of course in the house we had everything that kids did not speak to me or their mother we ask them to go in the pool they said no that they want to go back to the hotel lol to make the story short 11:30 PM that night we ended up packing and going back to the hotel and the kids love it. The staff is wonderful that General Manager is one of the kind he will make you feel at home excellent excellent person every time were there he stops by to say hello or we stop by to say hello. I recommend this hotel to anyone that has kids and is looking for a good safe time. All the parks are very close by all the stores are very close, flea markets anything you want. Next door is old town you and the kids will love it it’s a 5 minute walk. Very very highly recommended from someone that’s been there since 1989. To the General Manager and staff for making us feel at home.
